When I shift my 71 polara with 360 into reverse the motor jumps fairly severly.... what does this mean?

Sounds like a broken motor mount. Or tranny mount. With your foot on the brake and the tranny in gear, give the engine some gas. You should see it lift or shift a bit. You'll need to replace them or chain or strap the engine down.

Very true there Steve ! If the motor is juming forward/backwards , then you have a broken tranny mount. Now then , if you motor mounts are made this way , which I believe they are, all you'll need is a 1" block to replace your rubber sandwich insert. To get that piece of rubber out of there , just burn it off.

im running a STRICKLY stock derby and you either have to run no cooler lines or the factory ones into the radiator... i have always ran them into the radiator and so far they have never broke but i know its bound to happen so i was wondering what you all suggest i should do

Simple ! Just get a factory tranny cooler and mount it up be the heater core hole on the fire wall . That's what we did/do.

yea i have done that before in other derbys but this one is very strict about being absolute factory so it either being cooled through the radiator or running no lines and i took the heater core out so i could put my battery box there

I've ran them before w/ the cooler lines just looped. I wouldnt recomend making a habit of it, but once or twice wont do any real damage, unless the trans is on its last leg to begin with.
