TIPS TO DATE Note: these tips are just suggestions so I may have more than one method to acheive the same thing posted. These are a matter of preference I am just listing possibilities. 1. Wedge or V tuck the rear end when possible. (See pictures below) 2. Notch and tuck trunk where allowed. (alternate method to above) 3. Lower the steering column from the dash to get a better angle to help prevent steering bind 4. Put a Universal joint in the steering to allow the nose to tip at the firewall and not bind steering. 5. When possible try to weld up all frame seams. 6. Convert to leaf springs where allowed. 7. Wire in coil springs to pocket or weld them in in the rear to keep them from coming out of the car if the shocks break or rear end would shift.

Drop the column mount about 2 inches and add a u-joint at the bottom of the column.

Yes notching the rear is good for a nice roll.

I also tie my rear coils in at top and bottom with cable so the springs dont pop out.

If you can spot weld them in, at top and bottom, that would be good also. We can't, so we use muffler clamps and/or wire.

hit square with these cars (impalas) one frame rail will go up or while the other stays straight if you dont. weld the chevy bumper shock mounts on the bop's. this helps the front rails from folding around too fast.

Ive found if they are not notched the rear ramps up then you cant see and you begin running people over. Maybee it has to do with the fact I like those full track shots lol Maximum damage minimum hits lol

If you can get one a convertible frame is boxed between the wheels and not open like the others.

I agree w/rrone. no need to notch a box GM. get it level, and it will bend the way you want it (Olds 98s, Buick Limited's are the exception)

on 74-76 gms, lay the saddle support back about 4"s towards the fan, then lay the hood down to the bumper, this leaves about 3"s of hole, this makes the front end solid, they won't ever get the radiator, i do this on all my impalas, never had radiator takin out

When you say saddle support, do you mean the motor mounts?

the saddle support not motor mounts, the piece that goes from finder to finder in front of the radiator, it has two bolts on each side of it,use a come-along with a chain and hook to each side by the dash and pull in the center of the saddle support to pull back even, this will lay the radiator back toward the fan, then bend the hood down at an angle to the bumper, this is awesome, never had radiator takin out after doing this, ive got 2years on the same impala, been in 10 derby's and front still looks good

OK. I see what you're talking about. I call that the radiator support.
