well u wont be able to find headers for ur pontiac. i just cut them so they pointed strait down. advance ur timing so it wont quit when ur hit. are ur bumpers welded strait to the frame or to brackets that are welded to the frame? i wouldnt notch to begin w/. dimple the top of the frame about a foot from the rear bumper, or half way between the 2 body mounts. heat up the top of the frame w/ ur torch and then when u get it red hot dimple it w/ a hammer. then prebend where u dimpled it. aslong as ur cars is up high enough then it wont go down.

Can you take out the body mounts? If so, take them out, and replace the stock bolts, with longer gr.8 bolts. Go up thru the floor. Use big washer/nuts on them. Or, cut out the mount area, and use 3/4 allthread instead of the body bolts. Big washers again. If you can, run a long set, up thru frame and radiator support, out thru hood. Very big washers there. If you can find a limited slip type rear, have it tightened, so it hardley slips. We did that once, where they didn't allowed welded gears, and it worked real well. We had to have it, so the rear could be jacked up, and wheel could be turned. The guy was able to, but he REALLY had to strain.LOL

do i advance to timing at the distributor or on the chain, i know thats a dumn question. yeah my car sits about 20 to 22 inches in the rear and about the same in the front i do need to knock those hocky pucks off and just bolt the body stright to the frame. what if i welded the body to the frame? and allthread the front it will be mean. what about those headers, if i make them go stright down won't the starter get to hot and the oil filter too. what kind of rear end should i use with limited slip, i'm thinking about running a lower gear too, what do u think of that.

We never used "zoomies" or stacks, thru the hood. We've always just ran the exhaust pipe down, and back a bit, then cut it off. We would heat up the end, and bend it, if it looked like it was going to heat up the starter, etc. Try looking up, DEC headers. They make stacks for just about any car you can think of. And prices are good too, it seams. We always advanced the timing at the distributor. I don't even know, if you could do it at the chain. But make sure you use a new chain and gear anyway. If you can weld the body to the frame, go for it. Most places you can't. But I'd still take the mounts out, and run the bolts too. I'm not good at changing stuff. I'd run the stock rear. But I've heard of people putting in the Ford 9" rear. Don't ask me how.LOL A lower gear might be good. Kind of depends on the track. But something like a 4:11 would most likely work well at most tracks.

when u cut the pipes. cut them off at an angle. angled to where the open side is pointing out. that way it will start to go out before in twords the engion. thats what i did, it worked great. when u advance ur timing u shouldnt have to restart ur car so u wont have to worry about the starter that much. i had mine so far that it was kind of hard to start w/ 2 batts hooked together. i only had to restart it once when i got hit so hard the batt terminals fell off and i only used one batt to restart it. when the engion gets hot it will start easier w/ the timing advanced.
