Should I leave the 472 that runs great,or swap it? I've heard good things about these motors, but never ran one myself.

good running motors, retard the timing, and set the float on the q-jet, they do tend to get hot if you lose the radiator, but u don't lose no power when it gets hot

Those big blocks do get hot fast. But they have some great power in them. If you don't like doing engine switches, I'd stick with it. But if doing a switch, is no problem, then going small block, is a smart move. You might be able to find someone to buy the 472. Whichever way you go, Good Luck!

Changing the motor isn't a problem. I have several chevy 350's,chrysler 318;360,400,440's. I was just wondering if the 472 was a worthy motor. This is a 100% rust free car and I know built right it could win a feature. Give me some more ideas, please.

The couple Cads I've run, did ok. Not sure what engines. But one Cad(think it was a 76), got hot real quick, after I lost the radiator, and wouldn't start. I would do like Chris said, and put some gears in it. But if you can put a small block in it, do it. That way, you know the engine will work well.

change the motor definatly if u have thoes m/ts at ur desposal. i would tuck, wedge and dimple/notch the rear, put a good front bumper on it and u will have a great car. i dont know about what ur going to do about the rearend. u cant find gears for the stock rearend, and i have heard that the set up is diffrent to where u cant just bolt a chevy rearend under it.

take a 9in or 83/4 and weld the caddy trailing arms and all that good stuff on it, a small block would get u sitting a little higher in the front too, i ran a 472 once in a 68 eldarodo and it ran pretty good, it would just get hot quick if u didn't have a big, clean radiator.

I'm a chrysler man by heart, so I think I'm going to use an awesome 360/727 combo. Maybe try the 8 3/4 rear also. A nice 67 driveshaft and it should be pretty stout. I noticed that the front frame opens up after the A-arm. Do you guys box this in, or leave it stock? le me know what you think.

If you want to take the time, I'm sure it would help.
