Slam, I agree.
My biggest issue with the point was derby discussion getting so far from the topic that the person never gets their answer. Plain and simple, and I've seen it on all the sites, and it just gets sickening. My site will center around building derby cars and running derbies, not what everyone had to eat last night or their favorite TV show. I figure there are enough sites on the internet to discuss that. A good point was given to me today, and I might or might not create an off-topic category on my BBS. If so, it will ALL be family appropriate and no obscenities allowed.
Chris, you are right man, my site is mainly tips and is derby related to the core. And I honestly hope to keep it that way. I am trying to help people with anything demolition derby, I always have and likely always will. I will tell you everything I do to my cars, and I would even build you a better car to run in the same show I was competing in. And I also absolutely HATE to see the IDDA close, it bothers me a lot to know it may happen very soon. I have been with that organization before I had ever driven in a derby, it has been somewhere around 8 years I have been with the IDDA, I have seen it go thru every change it has, and along with that, the IDDA has seen my entire derby career... and to have all of that gone is sick. My goal is to try to fill that void, and I know it will be a long hard road to even touch that.

I agree with you, on the last Jess. I hate to see the IDDA close! But I'll stay around on there, as long as it's up. And I'll do my best, to help. Just like in the others, and this site, that I go to. I don't really know many tips, other than general stuff. I never really did anything far from the rules. But any of the stuff I've learned about, I'm more than happy to pass along.

yeah i'll give other people i run against tips to help them out, depends on who they are i guess, there's some that i don't get along with, that i won't give any good tips to, but i'm usually the only person helping them work on their cars in the pits, and there's some guys i actually do some of their welding for them. and there aren't many tips that i can give that they don't already know, and like i said there are the things you don't want everybody to know you have either done to your car, (you know the stuff that is there to just look pretty jess) or what can be done.

No, doba, I don't think so. The original owner, John Brophy, decided he wanted out, but they never actually shut down, from what I understand. John turned it all over to Sam Dargo, to keep it going. Sam took it from a very small personal demo derby website, to a huge international organization. Now, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that's the way it went. If anyone knows different, please feel free to speak up. Amy

I wasn't "Putting your board down." It was more of a suggestion if you want to attract more people to it. I agree everyone has they're opinions about all the different boards. I dont recall putting the IDDA down (unless it was 2 years ago). When you referenced to me talking in the GM section on DDDA sight.....there are a few topics that do get sidetracked, and to find every one of them as a mod is nearly impossible.....however my observation when i came to this site, is that nearly every thread has 2 real replys and then all turn into chat sessions. You are free to take my suggestion and throw it out for all i care. Just something that I thought could help your site. Yes I am partial to the DDDA site, mainly for the respect I recieve from all the people there, but that has nothing to do with my comments on this site. I'm not low enough to waste my time trying to criticize every other site out there for the simply fact that i like the DDDA.

well that is true, guys, (and gals) let's try to stay on topic, and TRY to keep the b/s-ing in the non-related boards. but if you look now, there is alot of boards that are on topic, and have some pretty decent tips

Enforcer (question) I'm NOT knocking the DDDA at all because I really like that site but like you said yourself smack talk happens. You telling me that 76and newer 5th thread (all 41 pages) is all tips and tricks and NOT smack talk. (34 pages) on 74-79 pinch frames are all tips and NOT smack. I'm NOT saying this to start sh!t or to be mean because I'm NOT. I think Amy will do a great job with this site and I hope the best for her. Like it was said before this site will take off just need the rookies guy to start asking ? . LOL

I locked this thread since it was starting to go in a direction none of us want. Enforcer I am glad you commented with what you thought. At the time I took it to be made in a negative manner. Apparently I was wrong. So I take back all statements made. Now that we have it all cleared up I locked this and if Amy wants she can reopen it or delete it.

I will attend to this topic, some time tomorrow. Been sick with the flu, (still am) and have to work all this week, (not helping me to get over the flu, unfortunately) so no time (or strong desire, really) to get online, today. More to come, tomorrow.

OK, I'm unlocking this thread, so that everyone can feel free to speak thier mind. I would hope that our members would be intelligent enough, and adult enough, to have spirited discussions, without finding it necessary to have open fighting on the board. If that does start to happen, I will lock and/or remove this topic, permanently. That's what I will not tolerate! No open fighting!! Try to keep things somewhat civil, please. Save the hittin' for on the track, please! Thank you! Amy

It is nearly impossible to look through all the threads, especially if whoever the mods are dont use those topics, thus the reason it may have gotten that far. On the DDDA you are always welcome to send a PM to one of the mods in whatever section with a question, concern or comment. If that doesn't work let me know (on my DDDA account because i check that one more often and I will get it taken care of for you.

well one reason why we b-s alot if because we need some rookies to come in, and start asking questions so we can talk about building And if they have questions they should be in the right section with responses talking about the question and only the question

sissy, I understand what you are saying! Why do people come here to give constructive criticism, then end up talking about their site? Funny! I don't see a problem with a little chit-chat!

I have proof from one of your own and some of your members!I've even got a pretty anal private mail from ADOLF himself! Some sites want happy members and they are doing fine here. Most here may GO to the ddda site but liking it is a different story!
