Lets see what was the oldest and newest compact you've used. My only compact, was a 74 Merc Capri. It was a good car. Had a 4cyc/auto. Didn't even make it to the heat, the first time out. I had taken it out, for the parade lap. And when I got back to the pits, and got out, it started a fire. The best we could figure out, is the starter shorted out somehow, and ground the cables. I had made sure nothing was near the pipes or sharp edges. Burned the heck out of them. But next year, it did really well. I won the main ;D!

D, make sure you run a weld compact derby. Those wagons will hump up, and bend funny. The regular pinto is better for a chain derby. My oldest, is this years '75 pacer.

Ive got a 1998 dodge neon that has been through two derbys and will be ready for more next season. The first derby the starter got knocked off of the front of the engine, then stalled (standard) and wouldnt restart obviously, second derby hose clamp came loose on the fuel line and caught fire from spark that came from a jerry rigged starter. Huh wonder why. LOL

Unfortuanetly blew the motor cause the throttle cable stuck at wide open However I prefer my GM J-Bodies oldest I've run is an 86 sunbird newest is a 91 Cavalier For the next season I'm building a 95 Cavalier
