Just like the topic describes, I thought it might be kinda fun to share our fondest derby shots....
Mine would have to be a time when I got an end-to-end run on a guy (early-mid 80's gm) and hit him square in the nose. His front sheet metal just peeled from the body mounts, and I hit the engine with enough force to shear the bolts on one half of the cylinder head, and actually broke it in half. We didn't realize just how much damage I had inflicted with my big ford until the driver came over to us in the pits to show us....He was really cool about it, and just wanted to hang out for a while until the show was over....Best moment ever

Have to be when I was running a 78 doba, was a one end of the track and I watch a guy in a mid 80s gm 2 door go all the way down the other end of the track. So I put it in rev. hit him so hard that I peeled his hood open, the core support was on the carb and my back tire was almost in the windshield. After that they stop the derby to check on the guy, good thing he was alright. Thanks to the crowd they got my car down off his let me back in it and ended up in 2nd place in the heat (what a rush that was).

MIne would have to be a full track shot one end to the other. i had a 1977 grand fury the other guy had a 88 ford ltd, hit him back to back drove right though his car my rear end up right in his back seat, as doba the crowd got into it and they pulled me out , made two more hits putting a guy on his side then the second hit the foot pedal broke in half on the car didnt have a hand throdle so i was stuck there just reving the motor up for the crowd got best of show .

I had three, that come to mind. Hard to choose which was better. 1st. one, I had a 58 Ford wagon. He had a 57/58 Merc four door. I got him with a good 3/4 track shot. My rear took out both fenders, hood, radiator. Looked like he hit a wall, going about forty mph. 2nd. one, I had a 64 Chry Newport two door. He had a 59/60 Chevy wagon. I got him going about 1/2 track, with my rear. Shoved everything back, hood, fenders, radiator/engine. Broke his dist in half. 3rd. one, I had a 62 Ford wagon. He had a 64/65 Dodge Dart four door. I had killed the engine, and was trying to start it, when he hit me back to back. He pulled forward, so I returned the favor. I hit him, back to back, about 3/4 track. I didn't know it at the time, but either his helmet came off, or he ended up in the back seat area. Because, in the Super 8 film, you can see his white helmet going into the rear. But he didn't run the rest of the day.

there's a couple for me, but my best hit was probably my very first, i had a 68 caddy eldarado, and we were all in one line, and i was 2nd from the last, and as soon as the flag dropped the guy in the 80's ltd went back, and i took his whole front cap almost off, knocked his radiator into the water pump, and knocked his throttle body off, his night was over,

lol sorry to hear about that tough shot, doba. Most damage inflicted by ME? either the time I drove another guys car (that always helps a guy put the pedal down, doesnt it? lol) it was a 74 Olds '88...I tracked an early 70s mopar back to back. he must have been cut too much back there, because it was the first shot the guy took and the trunk just stood straight up. It was real suprising to watch that thing go up so fast, and a boost for the rest of the day. the second on my list would be when I caught a 58-64 Ford head on with my 73 LeSabre. the ford wasnt built well at all, and I drove right through his front-end. I felt a little guilty about ruining a car with such potential. But then again, If I felt sorry every time I made a nice shot, I wouldn't do too well in demo derby, would I?
