Hey, I drive a truck every day! lol Just kidding. Well, I'm not, but I am. Anyway, I've only seen the trucks run once, and it was pretty intense. How about it, truck guys? What's it like??? I've had 2 "derbies" with 2 different trucks, but I had the unfair advantage. My opponents were considerably smaller cars. The first one, I took out the car in one hit, with minimal damage to my truck, (a 2000 F-150 ext. cab) but on the 2nd one, the car was totaled, but so was my truck. (a 2005 Expedition) Got hit perfect, and the car went up underneath me, and flipped my truck on it's roof. If it weren't for that, I would've been in GREAT shape! lol Aside from a couple of small indentations on the rear wheel well, there was no other damage. Except to the roof, and it blew out most of the windows, of course. Funny how that happens, huh? lol When they rolled it back over, though, different story. Anyway, those were my truck derby experiences. After that, I think I'm done with the trucks! lol Anyway, come on, guys, let's get it going!

trucks tend to roll over due to normal physics. they tend to move pretty fast and its just like cars when it comes to size of trucks. dont take a huge surburban to a small track and try to move around alot. surburbans seem to be really tough and the 3/4 ton pickups seem to be pretty good as well. there is 1 ton pickups that will work as well, but if u cant run 1 tons just take out a leaf or 2 and they wont know the diffrence.

I ran a 78 GMC 1/2 ton DIESEL Pickup last year in a truck class and won handily because it was so slow that I couldn't bend it too badly. A word of advice about building pickups, if you're allowed to plate the drivers door DO IT!! Not for getting hit in it but for keeping the cab from collapsing. After a few shots on the "hard" side (I've run too many roundbacks) the bed pushed the cab back forward and the doorskin went out and the inner went in (where your arm is supposed to be). It was a one day build on something I've never run before but now know how to "fix" some things to keep my streak alive.

Trucks are fun. I thought they would hurt more but the hits didn't seem to "feel" any different than the cars.

Never ran one. But I'd guess weld the bed to body, take out the rubber body mounts, and bolt/weld body & bed right to frame. Weld everything you can. Make sure you have a safe setup! I'd get a nice big thick seat. I've heard that PU's are some hard hitting things.

I have watched a few truck races and from what I have seen if built right the Dodge fares best.

Its a 40 Ford pickup that is becoming a streetrod. Today I am beginning to pull the straight axle out and put a MustangII front end under it.
