Has anyone ever run a 89-91 F-150? How do they hold up? I'll be running one this year plans are to put my 355, th350, and nine inch in it. Im not sure which gear 3.70 or 4.86. Ill be running on a pretty small track so I'll probably run the 4.86. Anyone have any tips for these trucks it would be much apreciated.

Tude has run some of these, I think. He should be able to answer most of your questions. He should be in here soon. But I think I'd run the stock rearend myself.

for starters good cage, car bumper up front, weld doors.....the basics you probibly allready know but when it comes to putting the hood down look on the bottom side youll see crease marks where when its in a wreck it should buckle, well make the hole at each of them and wire through the fender where you dont have to cut the inner fender here is a 80 i bellied hard, i hit everything with the front for the most part and as hard as i could, if i didnt have the 80/81 fords wonderful holes in the frame and a car bumper i would have done allright

Stris I would probably run the stock rearend too If I wasn't gonna sell it. My Nine inches are already set up and braced to race. Tude your truck looked strong Mine is the body style after that one. I'm gonna do as much as I can to It. were allowed to build a 4 point cage with no connections to the frame, connect the bed to the cab with one strap on each side max width of 4" no maximums on length or thickness. Thanks for the help.

Well good luck with it! And I hope mounting the rear under there isn't to much trouble.

i need a sponcer like that, any cage is better than nothing, if you look inside the door of a car youll see a brace inside it, if you look in the truck door there is not one, i got hit in my 78 chevy hard enough i think if i stuck my arm out i could have stopped it and my drivers door was toast. i was glad i had the cage in it.
and ya i know you have the later serios, i was just posting the similar body serios to what you had that i had experiance in. let me know how everything turns out send pics of the build i love seeing what everyone else does, i know my ways arent the best but every build is better than the last one

On cars, lots of people remove them, or at least cut them back. I don't know if any earlier years that have steel ones, would fit. But you might be able to make them work. Myself, if I couldn't find any steel ones, I'd leave them in.

take the plasic out, it can burn or get into the tires and royally screw you. the last years for steel inners in a ford was 79 and thats a whole diffrent bread of fender. plus if you take them out, and ned to do something piddly under the hood, just turn th tire and crawl in, i did an alt swap and cap swap on the red truck i posted, didnt pop the hood either

sorry its been so long since ive posted. Been kinda busy with work and everything else. but i did get the truck done. I havent gotten any pics yet but ill get them after the next derby. the first one i tried to run this year was rained out just before i was supposed to run. The second one i broke the drive shaft out after about 40 seconds. theres not much damage done to the truck im gonna fix it up and run it again this month. I plan on wedging the bed. It should be pretty much totaled after that so ill have some good pics for everyone. 4play

hopefully the pics show up. I lasted much longer in this derby unfortunatly alot of stuff broke when the throttle was stuck wide open. the cross member mount broke completly off, the bell housing broke all the way around, the drive shaft came out and got bent pretty bad, and somethings broke in the rear end. i can turn the pinion freely while the truck is on the ground. but all in all i had alot of fun made some insanely hard hits

yeah i was going to run it again but the seasons over. So im gonna take the good parts out and scrap the truck and start building something for next year. What actually happened is they stuck one fork on the loader through the windows and picked it up it worked the first time but the second time it ripped in half. oh well i wonder if they would let me run a convertible? lol

thats why you should never do that with a car or truck.....and if you go under you take the chance of bending driveshaft or pokeing the pan

loooking to buy an engine for my derby truck have the chance to either buy a 283 or a 350 which would be a better derby motor.
