This is a good topic to get into for the novice engine builder . We can touch on head CC's too . The point of this topic will be to build a engine for our purpose of staying as cool as possible , with the least amount of heat related damage . So,,,,lets hear what you suggest , or use , and why .

towing cams i heard were the best for low end torque, and you still run pretty cool, as far as heads go smaller valves make more compression which means that the engine runs hotter, and is harder on the starter, but more compression does give more low end torque. larger valves will help the engine breathe better and run cooler, and it does give you a little more h.p. but drops compression from what i've heard about the bigger valves because i just put some 360 heads on a 318, it dropped compression, but it did give a little more hp.

Ok , lets look at it this way . If you want lowend torque I'd say run the closed chambered heads, but it'll cost ya in heat build up , and quickly . Open chambered heads obviously gives up lowend torque , but increases high end rpms and less heat . Now a days most people run a decent set of deeper gears . That gives you higher , quicker RPMs , less heat and gets you in the power band , jmo .
