Yes, the type car will help, in giving you a better idea. Matt's right about notching it in general. But on some cars, just working the trunk sheetmetal wiil work just fine.

I would'nt notch a '74 to '76 GM. What you have done so far is fine. Just get your car up high and level, it will go up, if it's not a rust bucket!

well get some good shocks and springs. get the biggest springs u can or the tougheste ones. then get some shorter shocks. u want the springs to be pushing agenst the shocks. the shocks will be completely extended all the time, and the springs will be rock solid. dont notch, v-tuck and dimple.

You guys need to watch the Carrollton show from last year. I can show you at least 5 rust free Impalas that went to the ground that weren't notched or dimpled. Not under built or anything. They just dropped. Most people here at least heat and dimple. Matter of preference but it is cheap enough insurance to make sure it goes where you want it to. Why chance going down if you can dimple or notch it and make sure it goes up. This was a coil show with no leafing allowed. That makes a difference. They say mopars never go down they just flap jack up and that is a myth too. A GM can go down even rust free and a Mopar will to. I would dimple it and make sure it rolled where I wanted it to. All a matter of preference but with no leafs I would dimple it.

IM WITH THOSE GUYS.DIMPLE THE FRAME WHERE IT COMES DOWN BEHIND THE REAR END, HUMP PLATES ARE GOOD ALSO IF YOUR ALLOWED TO USE THEM.IT KEEPS THE FRAME FROM TWISTING ANG KINKING AROUND YOUR REAR.
