I'm having recurring problems with my local (city) government concerning demolition derby. A problem that a few folks on here say that they have the same troubles with. And that is junk car regulations... Having a demolition derby car (or any other car) that is disassembled, not licenced, and/or simply not running are classified as junk cars and may be towed, impounded, or fined.
As an individual... many of us have little power to change policy. Esp. considering how few of us in any given town or county are demolition derby car owners. However... nationwide we have powers in numbers. I propose that we find a way to protect our hobby. Organizations such as this one are the only way to do so. do you run the car in your county or at your county fair, if you do you are bringing in revenue into the county fair cause of the car... lol

Isn't that odd? You and I have common sense. City leaders obviously don't.

I'm lucky to live in the county. But I had my "under fire" time with the county reps. Someone compalined, and I had the meeting. After I explaned what I was doing, they understood. All they asked, is to be able to start any of the cars, but one, at any given time. I never was big at switching engines, so most of mine ran anyway. Good luck to everybody! They stopped having derbys at our county fair.

Demoboy your not alone. The city police placed a police tow sticker on my car. They gave me seven days to remove it. We tried to explain it to them but they didnt even act as if they cared. You are right we need some sort of protection. Its a piece of sports equipment not some abandoned vehicle. Do they threaten to tow off all of the basket ball hoops in the alleys too?

You guys could turn this inyour favor to, When I lived Close to Elmira NY, that city started tagging cars also, well I got ahold of the cops and asked them if I could have a list of the recently tagged ones. They gave it to me suprisingly! Then look up the cars and start offering a little money for them, junk yards aren't gonna give them much for them, you might get some takers...Don
