One of the most important things, is to use a torch, and melt all the lead out of body seams. Then weld them up. That is, if it's allowed in your rules. You might also come upon bondo. But the torch will soften that up, so you can scrape it off. If you have to use the stock bumpers, take and make new bumper brackets, out of thicker flat bar. The old brackets, tend to snap. And use gr.8 bolts, to replace the old ones. And, like most cars, replace the body bolts with new longer gr.8 bolts, and go up thru the floor. Use big washers and nuts. You could also use allthread. I believe most people like 3/4" for that. On wagons, if allowed, weld the spare tire cover down. If you're going to use the stock engine, either replace the radiator with a newer style, or cut off the overflow/filler tank, and run the top hose, right to the thermostat housing.

I've been trying to figure out (okay, havent looked that hard, cuz its cold) where is the lead that needs to be melted out? (specifically?) I'm probably just missing something really obvious. lol

Most of the body part joints, will have lead in them. It's what they used to fill the seams back then, instead of bondo. Look where the roof meets the body, where the taillight/tailgate area is, where the rocker panels meet the fenders, and around the headlight area. If you remove some of the chrome and stuff, you might see some. But most will be hard to find. I use a torch, to burn the paint off the door/trunk areas. If you do that, you'll find the lead.

I havent to be real honest. Been busy the last couple months getting moved. I just bought a house, and havent had time to build cars. I'm planning on getting busy on it in a couple weeks. (just getting info before I start putting a torch to it)

Well, I can see where that's more important, that's for sure. Hope the move went smooth.

Glad the move went well. I hate moving. We've lived here, for almost 28 years. I'm going to hate it, when we have to move.LOL
