I prefer small block mopar then small block chevy and have never ran a ford so can't comment on that.

I run chevy but have run a big block 400 ford in the past and had no trouble with either. I say it`s just preference.

I have seen so many mopars run hard till the end of a feature without a puff of steam come out of the overflow hose. I am a true 305 sbc guy but i must say from watching, that the mopars, big block to small block hold up better to high temps, it didnt even look like they lost any horse power from the high temps. Even the dreaded 360 mopar engine with all the trouble they had with them, have run pretty well. A buddy of mine ran a 360 mopar in a 1962 Imperial in 4 derbys (2 different derbys in one night, he took second in the feature in the first derby) and never had an engine overheat problem.

I love Mopar and Ford engines. And I've run a 350, and gotten it pretty hot. It's really hard to tell. But just because I've run more of them, I'll go with the Mopar engines.

i'll take the road less traveled and pick the ford.when tuned and running proper they'll run as long as any other motor out there, with the exception of the slant six which is simply the strongest motor ever built.

Chris and doba, I am right there with ya, on the 318's! We've got this one motor that's been through so many derbies, that I've lost count. It's been overheated countless times, and still runs as strong today as it did the first day we fired it up! TC knows the one I mean, don't ya, shorty? lol Anyway, it's been, AT LEAST, 25 derbies, and still kickin' ass! lol Amy

only seen one guy mention it so far. but the 225 slant six it hands down the #1 trooper when it comes to keeping up with high temps.
