ive had a couple of these i-beam style bumpers fall off years what im going to do next time is.........
pull the box off the side of the frame
slide 2 square peices of tubing over the frame horns just a little so they dont complain
have 2 buddys hold the bumper up to the car tack the square tubes to the bumper
pull it back off and weld the crap out of the bumper/square
slide it back on the car and weld the crap out of the square/frame or bolt it to keep em happy
what do yall think

I have a '77 town car with the I beam brackets. I had the same thought with the square tubin' I hav'nt tried it yet but I think it's gonna work. Let me know how it works, 'cause this ole car won't be built for another year or two.

Sounds like a good idea! And if the doesn't work, try and burn/drill a hole, on each side of bumper. Then run cable/chain/wire thru them, and around the body. If the welds break, the bumper will at least stay off the ground.

i did that to with a set of chains i had a matter of hours to get the car rebuilt in the front end so i took a alum bumper off my 91 ltd- hey it was handy- 1 chain on each side over the rad support to the allthread then one chain around the bunper to the under side of the car to keep it from fliping on my hood then cranked the top chains tight and worked great - i went to the feature in it
