I refuse to cheat...EVER...
when I was running regularly (12+ derbies year) I know for a fact that I was beaten by cheaters on several occasions. I was in it for the fun of it (I did want to do well)...and if cheating is what it takes for other drivers to beat me, then so be it. But when I finally do win the feature, I'll know it was straight up, and not because of some extra metal I added, or the shocks I stuffed. Now, don't doubt for a second, that I do anything I can withing the rules to prepare a car, I even have more than a few tricks of my own I use.....But this man will never cross the line between cheating, and not.

i dint unless I'm going to a derby i know everyone else is, which around here his 80% but , if u never cheat like the others at those Derby's, then u wont ever win unless something stupid happens to there cars and then u didn't really win anyway cause there usually the ones Urey Trying to beat , and I'm in it 4 the fun and money we spend all kinds of money in our cars we want to win and your not going to unless u do at least what everyone else is doing , so thats why i say I'm competing more than i am cheating , also anyone who is serious about Derby's in my experience has all kinds of money in there cars and cant afford to just go to a derby and trash there cars for the promoters and fans, they almost have to get some of there money back . thanks 753 ;D

We all do little things, that are in the grey area. But I'll never load a car/frame, etc. The one time I got a little carried away (welded some angle on the radaitor support), I got caught. And I'm kind of glad I did. I had wanted to have a little extra, against the guys who really cheated. But I just stopped going to those events.

As of right now I have'nt cheated. However, the thought has crossed my mind! There is one derby I run that, if I don't do something, like the others are doing, I'm just throwing away my good iron, and all the time and money invested. It sucks, that if you say something you're a cry baby, and if you want to compete, you will be labled a cheater, FOREVER!

fordboy, I agree! See, there's this one promoter down here, that's got his "favorites". He'll turn a blind eye to their cars, and make stuff up, as he goes along, with others. That's IF he inspects them, at all! Thing is, I have no problem telling him (or anyone, for that matter) like it is. The first show he promoted, he told everybody in the driver's meeting, "Let me know what you think of the show, afterwards. No matter what it is, I want your feedback!" Right. That is, as long as the feedback is positive. Otherwise, if you have anything negative to say, keep it to yourself. I don't do that, so I've been banned. Oh well, that's his problem, not mine. If you say you're going to inspect, then you damn sure need to do it! And, if you do, you need to do it FAIRLY. Ok, that's my 2 cents worth. Keep the change! lol Amy

what a grey area. If you intentionally break the rules trying to get an advantage, you are cheating. If you actually think that you're BENDING the rules you're competing. Its your conscience and pride that you need to deal with if you cheat. No matter what, if you do something no one else thought of, or if you win, etc. you will be labeled a cheater by many driver. Getting caught isn't really what makes you a cheater in this game.

so u think with all do respect demoboy that we should all bye aer cars especially old iron and junk it on cars that are beefedup to the max , and as far as not going to them how can u not there the only ones that pays money good money anyway , and also its 80% of them . Also now dont get me wrong if u can build a car to the rules i say lets do it u think we cheaters as some call us , like spending 6 months on a frame and another 6 on the body heck know or atleast i dont but if u dont u get junked and dont have a chance , i just dont see no other way around it dont get me wrong theres a few good paying derbys out there that are straight up and even then u got to watch the buddy system"judges i mean " and like i said before most people i talk to cant afford to junk there cars 4 nothing or 4 crowd and promoters they got to win or atleast have a chance to win thats how i see it,u know of some good paying derbys that u know is straight up i would be glad to know of them im in ohio keep in mind lol , what say everyone else just wondering and u demoboy would realy like to know an alternative ? thanks 753 ;D

I know people try to get away with as much as possible and that is fine, but why is it that when they get caught they will argue with you about it? I have been inspecting and officiating for 10 years and it never fails to amaze me. It always is the same people doing it too. You have told them before and the show up at the next derby with the same BS they tried before. Then get mad when you tell them fix it or load it! It gets tiresome babysitting the same group of cheaters every race! Sorry about the rant but anyone who has inspected or officiated before knows what I mean.

another thing ive found is that even when u dont cheat and ure car is built to the rules to the t , and theres always the same ones complaining about how much ure plated and they know ure not cause some of them know that the inspector u take it to knows whats up , just because they was lazy and brought a half welded up car to a full weld up derby legaly , and u junk there car and ures barely moves because its so tight well ofcourse its gonna fold the non welded car up u know anyone else had that prob.? 753 ;D

Yea and they patch rust holes in the body with 1/4" plate. Come on now lets not play dumb. Or will re-weld the seam on ther frame and then argue the no weld anywhere on the frame rule. It came welded there from the factory. Well then why did you re-weld it?

It really is sad to see that people think they have to cheat to compete. winning is great but how proud could you be knowing that you won with a cheated up car. Some people don't care I guess. I would rather take 3rd in a legal car than 1st in a cheated up car because you really did nothing but cheat it really isant somthing to be proud of.

I can't see where the arguement " You'll never do well if you don't cheat" comes in...I've always done well, and never broken a single rule. If you know how to build, and you can drive well, you will do well regardless of what every body else is doing.....If you have to cheat to build a decent car, then you should spend a little more time on prep..just my .02
and no mercy.....I can't tell you how many times, I've seen the very thing you mentioned above....If the cheaters would just take it like a man when they get caught it would be alot easier for techs to do their jobs, they shouldn't have to argue the point...that's why you guys are there

it comes in in my opinion when u spend alot of money on ure cars and are stock and they "the plated cars" do the same and u get junked way easier then them , because u usally dont have to run against 1 plated car in the feature its 3 in my experince 753 ;D

this is my last thing on this topic cause i dont feel like really getting into this whole thing because every one has their own opinion and every one is going to fight their opinion and then every one is going to get mad say things that they dont mean and so on . i know one thing i have not cheated once in the 6 years ive run but im truly getting sick of trying to go have some fun and people bringing cheater cars into the demo. the demo to me is a spectator sport and to have fun and i dont think you can have fun and put on a good show when you have cheaters out there that the only thin on there mind is to win and not have a great time. i probly will get a lot of response's about what my opinion but like i said it isnt worth fighting about caiuse every one has there own opinion .

i don't care if i suck or called a cheater i cheat my cars just like everbody else that runs southbend and local fairs around my area and when i cheat a car t is usaly hidden plates. Why would you go and support a show that allows cheating? You would think the promoter would hire good inspectors that know what there looking at. Instead of allowing a big cheat fest. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt by someone in a cheated up car with hidden plates, stuffed frames ETC....

know I'm not getting mad at anyone , ladies and gents its just if u by an old iron car i just don't think u can junk it myself i just couldn't afford to do that i mean to me my fun is wining , but i do agree pmotoresports everyone has there own opinion , and as far as the chevy being plated thats true, in the 80 and newer, but everyone down here cheats with them to, but Urey right they are the future pars and ford cars anyway really preference on all the other , but all u people who say u haven't cheated u can honestly say uve never done anything no matter how small because cheating is cheating same as stealing lol if u take a quarter or a 10000000 dollars , and as far as people getting hurt look at all the Derby's on asphalt today and crete going 80 and hitting someone if u don't want to get hurt don't run i mean everyone knows they take a chance when they derby , and u can get hurt as well in a stock car but granted u would have to be harder on the person who is in the plated cars i love talking back and forth bout stuff like this, to me u learn alto thanks 753 ;D

Why is it cheating if you are just using your brain to build the ultimate car? if you don't like it get out of my way!!
Example: The Texas cowling
